"An enthusiastic, energetic show with a strong environmental message"

Cloudcuckooland - Serious fun

An enthusiastic, energetic show with a strong environmental message, 'Cloudcuckooland' is also serious fun. The play is based (loosely) on Aristophanes' work 'The Birds', and the material generated appeals to kids and adults alike, with numerous pop-culture references smuggled into the songs to keep parents amused. Multi-talented performers act, sing, clown around and play musical instruments, maintaining a frenetic pace throughout, whilst the live music contributes to an exciting, carnival atmosphere, although the musicians did sometimes drown out the singers, who had no microphones. Some of the younger audience members found the cacophonous trombone music accompanying the chase scene (which is itself a significant achievement given the tiny stage) a bit frightening, although their tears were soon forgotten, and the laughter returned when the music grew softer.

"A wonderful hour of musical mayhem"

FOUR STARS - THE LIST - Fantastic feathery fun

This riotous show is the stuff of every stage manager's nightmares. When the action draws to a close, the stage is strewn with a sticky mess of eggs, foam and burst balloons. Happily the auditorium is full of smiling children and adults making the clean-up operation worth while.
Fed up with having their habitats ruined by human-induced global warming, the delegates at an avian conference decide to fight back. Lacking any man-made ammunition the feathered friends use a far deadlier weapon to put their point across to the world - poo.
Performed by a multi talented cast, all of whom can act, sing, and play several instruments - this is a wonderful hour of musical mayhem. A strong storyline keeps older children and adults happy, while younger ones can enjoy the sigh of a trombone-playing flamingo, a harp-playing penguin and a dod on a Zimmer-frame.

"The jokes and songs come rapid-fire from a team of quite astounding all-round talents."

"Packed with satire, nods to popular culture and belly laughs. The jokes and songs come rapid-fire from a team of quite astounding all-round talents. There's much here for grown-ups to enjoy; music, slapstick and political commentary, However as the action moves first to a 'bird conference' in the sky and then to Cloudcuckooland there is more to keep the kids happy including audience participation, sing-a-longs and plenty of jokes about bird poo."
